Program Background

ⅢBRICS Network University Summer School of Economics“Macroeconomics and Business of BRICS countries" will be held online via Zoom from July 10 to July 18, 2022.

It initiated by the Economics Group of BRICS Network University, co-organized by Business School of Beijing Normal University, School of Economics and Trade of Hunan University, and School of Economics of Henan University.

This Summer School invites professors from Beijing Normal University, Hunan University, Henan University, Renmin University of China, Emlyon Business School, American University, University of South Australia and other universities. Through lectures, seminars, and cultural exchanges, we aim to enhance the young generation's understanding and research on the macro-economy and business of BRICS countries, promote more in-depth people-to-people exchanges and cooperation among BRICS countries, and the better development of BRICS countries in the future.

Course Description

This program will be carried out through live streaming, including lectures, group discussions, cultural night and group presentations. Students who have successfully completed the program will be awarded a Certificate Completion signed by the three Schools.

Professors are from well-known universities at home and abroad, who have rich teaching and research experience in economics, business and other fields.

Introduction to the co-host Schools

Beijing Normal University School, Business School

Beijing Normal University School, Business School (BNUBS) was established in 1979 and is one of the earliest Business School in China's normal universities. The School has a relatively complete and reasonable disciplinary structure. Relying on the more than 100-year history and cultural accumulation of Beijing Normal University, Business School of Beijing Normal University with the mission of“Promoting Business and Humanism to Serve the Nation and the World" is committed to creating a school model that organically combines economic and management education, humanistic education and social responsibility. In the past 40 years, the School has continued to grow and become an important base for talent training and scientific research in economics and business administration in China. In 2016, the School successfully get the EQUIS accreditation, marking that the School's educational quality and international school-running level have been widely recognized by global peers, laying a solid foundation for further development.

School of Economics and Trade of Hunan University

School of Economics and Trade of Hunan University was established in 2002, which was formed by integrating related disciplines of the former Hunan University and the former Hunan University of Finance and Economics. Since its establishment more than ten years ago, the School of Economics and Trade has achieved rapid development in teaching staff, personnel training, scientific research and social services.The college has two first-level doctoral authorization points and postdoctoral mobile stations in applied economics and theoretical economics, and two professional master's degree authorization points in international business and taxation. Applied economics and theoretical economics are the key disciplines in Hunan Province, and international trade is the national key discipline. They have undertaken the key construction project of“211 Project”, the philosophy and social science innovation base of“985 Project”and the construction task of "Double First Class" discipline of Hunan University. The college has three undergraduate majors, namely, international economics and trade, economics and finance. It also has a national teaching team of international economics and trade, and an innovative experimental zone of national talent training mode of economics. It has one national-level first-class undergraduate major construction site—international economics and trade,andone provincial-level first-class undergraduate major construction site—economics major, one provincial-level training base for top-notch students in basic disciplines-International Trade.

School of Economics of Henan University

School of Economics of Henan University has a long history of development and is one of the early disciplines established by Henan University. Its history goes back to 1927 with the first establishment of a department of economics at Henan University. This department is called School of Economics since 2002. At the early stage of the School and the key point of discipline development, famous economists and social activists such as Luo Zhanglong, Wang Yizhai, Guan Mengjue and Zhou Shouzheng taught here, and they laid a solid foundation for the development of economic discipline. During the development process of more than 90 years, generations of scholars have passed on the fire and made self-improvement, and gradually condensed the motto of "Respecting Virtue and Honouring Ability, and Helping the People in the World”, formed the fine style of "Diligence, Truth-seeking, Cooperation and Openness", and established The development strategy of "serving local economy and strengthening economic disciplines" has been established. In the new era, the college will closely integrate its development with the construction of "double first-class" university and the revitalization of the century-old university, adhere to the strategic vision of international development of education, continuously improve the quality of talent training, and promote economic and social development.
