RESEARCH PROFILE
Research Grants;Prof. Zhu has successfully secured research funding form National Competitive Grants and other sources both within and outside Australia. As sole researcher, and as co-chief investigator, she has been successful in securing many external and internal research grants (the total amount awarded by different sources from 2001 to 2016 is over 2 million Australian dollars), including 5 ARC research grants (4 ARC Linkage grants and 1 Discovery grant) and 3 NNSFC grants from China. She has played the leadership role in forging strong partnerships with Chinese organizations (including government departments and multinational enterprises) and securing their support for the research projects she has developed with her colleagues. The four ARC Linkage projects funded in 2003, 2004, 2007 and 2011 are good examples of her leadership role, especially in the projects collaborated with CHALCO and NWME. She played a leading role in initiating and developing the projects, forming the project team, coordinating the overall project with the team members in both Australia and China, and directing project design. She assumed responsibility for the overall management of these projects. This funding has led to publications in refereed international research journals.
Publications:Prof Zhu has about 100 publications, including academic books, book chapters and journal articles, including Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Management, Human Resource Management (US), British Journal of Industrial Relations, Management International Review, Journal of World Business, Asia Pacific Journal of Management, International Journal of Human Resource Management, World Development, among others.
Peer review and discipline involvement:Prof. Zhu is the Editor-in-Chief of the journal of Chinese Management Studies (CMS), published by Emerald Publisher. CMS is the only English journal in the world for studies on Chinese management or management in China. It’s an SSCI accredited journal and is quite popular among scholars in China (the acceptance rate is around 12%). She also sits on the editorial board for Employee Relations and Management Research Review, both are international journals. She is a regular reviewer for many top tier journals, including Human Resource Management (US), International Journal of Human Resource Management, Journal of Management Studies, Journal of World Business etc. She has also been invited as a key-not speaker by many international conferences.
