2022 BRICS NETWORK UNIVERSITY ANNUAL CONFERENCE —Economics Sub-forum & International Symposium on ‘Economic Elements of Partnership: Trade, Finance and Investment Governance within BRICS’ held by Hunan University

The 2022 BRICS Network University Annual Conference was held in Beijing from April 20 to 21, in a combination of online and offline.

 

As a member of BRICS Network University, we hosted the Economics Sub-forum & International Symposium on Economic Elements of Partnership: Trade, Finance and Investment Governance within BRICS which was connected with the 2022 BRICS Network University Annual Conference.

 

The forum was jointly organized by the School of Economics and Trade of Hunan University, The Office of International programs of Hunan University, and China-Africa Economic and Trade Research Institute.

 

Eleven scholars from Tshwane University of Technology, Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Southern Federal University, Aligarh Muslim University, MGIMO University, World Trade Institute, Durban University of Technology, University of Campinas, Central University of Finance and Economics, and Hunan University, had in-depth exchanges of views on trade, investment, labor mobility and epidemic prevention within BRICS. More than 100 academics from all over the world participated in the online discussion.

 

  

 

Junjun Hou, the dean of School of Economics and Trade, Hunan University, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. He introduced the international development strategy of the college, as well as its relationship with BRICS universities, and put forward suggestions and thoughts on promoting practical and efficient cooperation among BRICS Network Universities. The seminar was divided into three sub-forums on the evening of April 20 and the afternoon of April 21.

 

 

 

 Trade and Investment sub-forum presentation

 

The theme of the sub-forum on April 20 is ‘Trade and Investment’. It was moderated by Associate Professor Yue Hua. And prof. Mammo Muchie( Tshwane University of Technology), Prof. Amaro Pereira (Federal University of Rio de Janeiro), Prof.Elena Maslyukova (Southern Federal University) and assistant professor Li Dai (Hunan University)  all gave wonderful lectures

 

 

‘Inclusive Economic Growth’ sub-forum presentation

 

The sub-forum on April 21 included two themes: ‘Inclusive Economic Growth’ and ‘Economic collaboration among BRICS countries’, which were moderated by Assistant Professor Li Dai and Assistant Professor Wenjing Kuai from the School of Economics and Trade, Hunan University respectively. Prof. Mohd Nayyer Rahman (Aligarh Muslim University), Associate Professor Tenglong Zhong (Central University of Finance and Economics), and Assistant Professor Wenjing Kuai (Hunan University) attended the ‘Inclusive Economic Growth’ Forum.

 

And prof. Maria Apanovich (MGIMO University), dr. Vilane Goncalves Sales (Institute of World Trade), dr. Ndivhuho Tshikovhi (Durban University of Technology) and prof. Bruno De Conti (University of Campinas) participated in the ‘Economic collaboration among BRICS countries’ Forum.

 

 

 

‘Economic collaboration among BRICS countries’ sub-forum presentation

 

Participants had in-depth exchanges on such issues as trade growth trend, current bottlenecks and solutions in education, science and technology, international cooperation in epidemic prevention, tourism competition and cooperation, and trans-regional human capital flows. After the meeting,the vice dean of School of Economics and Trade, Hunan University, Hangtian Xu made a summary speech and thanked all the participants.

 

 

 

On the evening of April 21, Mammo Muchie, as the member of the ASSAf and professor of Tshwane University of Technology, Made a speech at the closing ceremony of the 2022 BRICS Network University Annual Conference (main online venue) on the theme of ‘Prospects for BRICS Economic Cooperation’.
